Privacy & Analytics

Last updated: November 2025

Your files never leave your browser

BindMyPDF processes every PDF and image entirely on your device. Files are never uploaded to a server, never stored, never shared, never used for AI training. The work happens in JavaScript running in your tab, and the output is generated locally for you to download. If you close the tab, nothing remains anywhere.

This is the whole reason this tool exists — the author built it because he didn't trust other sites with sensitive scans.

What we measure with Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used so we can improve it and so we can share aggregate usage numbers (e.g. “X compressions this month”) as part of how we describe the tool to potential users. Specifically, GA records:

  • Pageviews (which pages you visit)
  • Scrolls (whether you read most of a page)
  • Clicks (which buttons and links you press)
  • Approximate location (city-level, derived from your IP)
  • Custom events about tool usage — e.g. “a compression finished” with the target size bucket and quality mode. These contain no filenames and no file contents.
  • Standard device info — browser, OS, screen size

GA sets cookies to identify return visits. IP addresses are anonymised before being stored.

What we will never collect

  • Your files, their contents, or their names
  • Image data, PDF data, or any document metadata
  • Anything you type into the tool (titles, etc.)
  • Personal identifiers like email, phone, address

None of these ever reach a server we control — they don't leave your browser to begin with.

Desktop app

The BindMyPDF desktop app (built on Tauri) has analytics disabled entirely. It runs fully offline and makes no outbound network requests for analytics or telemetry.

Opt out of analytics
